AUGUST 2020 NEWS UPDATE RECAP:
Starting off, the COVID-19 test center has moved from Rolling Meadows High School to the Arlington Park Racecourse at 2200 West Euclid Avenue in Arlington Heights. The test center will be open daily from 8 am until 4 pm. Testing is free to all regardless of symptoms and is open to individuals of all ages. As we move closer to the 2020-2021 school year, many districts have altered their plans on how students would return to school. Arlington Heights School Districts 25, 214 & Community Consolidated School District 59 have gone fully remote while many private schools such as Saint James, Our Lady of the Wayside, and Saint Viator are allowing students to learn in-person.
The Arlington Heights Senior Center is open once again! Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm, the senior center offers some great services to residents over 50 in Arlington Heights! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all patrons entering the building must complete a health questionnaire and temperature check conducted by Senior Center Staff. For the convenience and safety of patrons, a drop box is installed outside the Senior Center’s main doors to drop off registration, payments, and other correspondence. All drop-in programs at the Senior Center are suspended until further notice including programs such as billiards, card playing, mahjong, ping pong, and Wii.
As the summer begins to close, so do many of the Arlington Heights Park Districts Facilities. Recreation Park Pool and the Arlington Ridge Center will remain open until September 27th. For more information about Fall 2020 activities, refer to the most recent Fall Program Guide.
Arlington Alfresco is open! Located on Vail and Campbell streets in Arlington Heights, Arlington Alfresco provides restaurants and businesses with more seating and space by utilizing village streets. Reservations are encouraged for those interested in dining at Arlington Alfresco and groups of 6 or less are suggested. For those preferring curbside pickup for shopping and dining, there will now be designated areas on the first floor of the Vail parking garage, and along many streets throughout Arlington Heights. Arlington Alfresco will be open daily until 11 pm. Many restaurants and businesses not located in the Alfresco area have also set up outdoor seating arrangements for diners and shoppers. The farmers market is back! From 8 am-1 pm, vendors will be able to sell you their delicious goods! Located in the commuter parking lot across from the Historical Society, the Arlington Heights Farmers Market is a great place to get fresh, farm-grown goods. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many new restrictions that have been put in place. They ask all shoppers to wear a face mask or cover, maintain a six-foot distance between yourself, vendors, and other customers, pre-order and prepay if possible and allow vendors to handle all goods before you buy.
